TED M. POSTON is a Senior Research Scientist in the Environmental Technology Division of Battelle, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Mr. Poston conducted his undergraduate work at Central Washington University and graduate work in Fisheries at the University of Washington. Mr. Poston has 32 years of experience at the Department of Energy’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and has worked in the area of environmental surveillance, radioecology, eco-toxicology, environmental assessment, noise analysis, and fisheries. He has authored or coauthored over 150 journal articles, technical reports, symposia proceedings, NEPA documents, and presentations. Currently, he manages the Surface Environmental Surveillance Project (SESP) and serves as the Institutional Official for the Laboratory’s animal research.
As manager of the SESP, Mr. Poston supervises 8 staff members and interacts with federal and state governmental officials on Hanford Site environmental issues. Through Battelle’s contract, Mr. Poston has also conducted work addressing ecological risk of contaminants associated with treated wood, community noise impacts associated with federal facilities, CERCLA cleanup and associated risk assessment, and development and application of methods used to assess dose rates to biota. Mr. Poston also supports science education initiatives at PNNL funded by the Department of Energy and is a recipient of the Fiztner/Eberhardt Award for contributions to science education (PNNL Laboratory Director's Award).
